Korea-town is home to dozens of restaurants ranging in diversity. This past week we decided to visit a new ramen restaurant that opened a few months back. Upon leaving the restaurant, we were left with unfulfilled expectations.

There was pretty much only four ramen options that didn’t really allow for much customization. The appetizers had more variety! As an appetizer, we opted to order the sesame chicken to appease our cravings for chicken. The sesame chicken was the star of the show, it outshined what we had originally been excited for. We were utterly disappointed by the ramen; it lacked flavor, the meat was extremely fatty, and the egg was not cooked properly. As for the price it was nothing unexpected, it was standard for a ramen restaurant. The food was not up to par for the quality. In total the ramen cost about $11.85 including tax. The chicken was $5 plus tax. Even though the sesame chicken tasted exceptional, it didn’t compensate for the measly proportion we received.

Prior to arriving at Ten Ramen, we had expected to see many people enjoying their meals. Once we arrived at the restaurant we immediately noticed the absence of customers. This immediately threw out any possibilities to conduct our student interviews. We were only left with our friends that we dragged along to gather feedback. Once we interviewed them we realized that they were also let down. As we ate our ramen, we had all agreed that it was lacking in multiple departments. After eating, we had concluded that there might have not been many customers as a result of the terrible customer service and food quality.

In regards to the customer service, we definitely felt that the employees didn’t care at all. One employee was on his phone the entire time in front of the cash register. Despite the terrible service we still left a small tip which we would later find out that the employee had gotten upset over. In addition to this, job interviews were being conducted near our table, which was a bit awkward to say the least. The tables weren’t spaced out well, it was cramped, and the restaurant gave off a somewhat depressing vibe due to everything being covered in black. Overall the atmosphere was unprofessional and uncomfortable.

We were extremely disappointed and would not recommend the restaurant to others. There are definitely other ramen places that offer both variety and quality in their food, customer service, and atmosphere.
