Alabama just passed a near total ban on abortion on May 15, 2019 which can punish the doctors preforming the abortions with up to 99 years in prison and is considered a Class A felony.

This law has affected a lot of women that want to have an abortion and has also affected the doctors who provide abortions. If a doctor provides abortion then he or she could face a minimum sentence of 10 years or a maximum sentence of 99 years.

Here is a sample of statements made by Republicans about rape:

“Rape is kinda like the weather. If it’s inevitable, relax and enjoy it.” – Clayton Williams (American Businessman)

“If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to shut that thing down.” – Todd Akin (Former U.S Representative)

“Even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen.”  – Richard Mourdock (American Politician)

“Rape victims should make the best of a bad situation” – Rick Santorum (Former member of the United States Senate)

“If a women has [the right to an abortion], why shouldn’t a man be free to us his superior strength to force himself on a woman? At least the rapist’s pursuit of sexual freedom doesn’t [in most cases] result in anyone’s death” – Lawrence Lockman (political activist).

It is disgusting having these simpleminded people representing the United States of America when they look at rape as some kind of joke, when it is considered a Class A felony in the state of Alabama and most of the other states in the U.S.

Women should have the right to get an abortion and the doctors shouldn’t get penalized for doing their job. Also, Amanda Seales who is an American Comedian stated her opinion on abortion in social media: “I cannot believe I live in a country that thinks a zygote is a fully realized human being with rights, but still hasn’t decided if a black person is.”

I agree with Amanda about how this country is giving human rights to a zygote instead of a person of color, who always gets mistreated for every single thing that happens.
